AHA NYC

The American Heart Association (AHA) is a nonprofit organization in the United States that funds cardiovascular medical research,[1] educates consumers on healthy living[2], and fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke. Originally formed in New York City in 1924,[3] AHANYC is currently headquartered in NYC. The American Heart Association is a national health agency.

They are known for publishing guidelines on cardiovascular disease and prevention, standards on basic life support, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and in 2014 issued its first guidelines for preventing strokes in women.[4] They are known also for operating a number of highly visible public service campaigns starting in the 1970s, and also operate a number of fundraising events. In 1994, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, an industry publication, released a study that showed the American Heart Association was ranked as the 5th “most popular charity/non-profit in America.”[5] The association was listed as the 22nd largest charity by Forbes in 2018.[6]

Video instruction has been proven to enhance learning, as a result training is consistent and manikin practice time is increased. This method of teaching has resulted in better quality instruction and learning. Instructor led practice, skills evaluation and planned remediation is also included in the course. This new course design has resulted in increased student confidence as well as improved skills retention.

AHA ONLINE PROGRAMS
AHA online eLearning courses are completed in three parts. Part one is online via the Internet and allows students to learn at their own pace. Part two is skills practice that can be self-directed or with help of an instructor. Part three is a skills test. One of the main benefits of eLearning is that organizations can expand training to a large amount of students in a short amount of time.
